Every tropical cyclone on record · NOAA HURDAT2 + IBTrACS
Click a column to list the storms that passed near it.
Mostly before the 1950s. The track was logged but no agency measured the wind.
Storms carry their live 34/50/64 kt wind field once wind radii exist (2001–04 on, by basin). South of the equator they spin clockwise.
Shown during playback, and for a selected storm at its peak or any landfall. The imagery streams from NASA and Iowa State as you go. Satellite rain covers every ocean; radar only reaches about 250 km from the US coast.

Data: NOAA NHC HURDAT2 for the North Atlantic (1851–) and Eastern & Central Pacific (1949–). NOAA NCEI IBTrACS v04r01 (Knapp et al. 2010) for every other basin, using JTWC 1-minute winds where they exist. Winds from 10-minute agencies are converted with a 0.88 factor. Rain: NASA GPM IMERG via GIBS. Radar: NOAA NEXRAD composites from the Iowa Environmental Mesonet. Coastlines and borders: Natural Earth via world-atlas.
